Myopia Management

Many parents don’t realize that their children’s myopia (a.k.a. “nearsightedness”) will worsen over time and lead to other health issues later in life if left unchecked. Glasses alone won’t serve as preventative medicine — only the intervention of a qualified expert can help. Family Vision Optical offers a new standard of myopia management care that includes child-friendly, yet advanced, technology and solutions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What insurances do you take?

We take most insurances but they go by so many names it’s best to just tell us what you have so we can confirm it for you. We do not take Medicaid.

When will my glasses be in?

Glasses generally take 10-14 business days depending on coatings, prescription, and lens style. We will notify you as soon as they are in.

Can you see me the same day (emergency/comprehensives)?

We do our best to see every eye urgency and emergency the same day. Depending on our schedule and your specific condition, the next day may be warranted. For comprehensive exams, if we have availability, we will do our best to get you in that day.

Do I need an appointment to stop in for an adjustment?

Appointments are not necessary for adjustments.

How long does an appointment take?

We generally tell patients to allot 30 minutes for the exam and any additional time they may need to pick out frames and lenses.

What age do you start seeing patients?

We start seeing patients at five years old if they know their letters. Eye exams may be necessary earlier than that but there are other offices that are better suited to serve those needs.
