80% of learning is visual and the visual system has a critical period of development which lasts about the first 7-8 years of their lives. Considering the importance of early intervention, a child should have a comprehensive exam before their second birthday, and yearly exams once they start school.
Non-Traditional Symptoms:
- Avoidance of reading or homework
- Frequently loses their place when reading
- Poor reading comprehension
- Poor penmanship
- Wandering (lazy) eye or abnormal head tilts
If you have questions, a routine eye exam is an easy way to get answers regarding your child’s vision.
